Are the existing policies in your workplace supportive of people caring for dependants? Are staff part of the policy making process and is anyone listening to their needs? If it is highlighted that your policies are not as inclusive as they could be, consider bringing this to Human Resources or your manager’s attention for change to take place, or ask for an independent review of your current policies. If you feel uncomfortable speaking up consider discussing the issue with your colleagues and work out the best way to address this with management.
