To be fully present, to feel “psychologically safe,” we must know that we can be free enough to share the things that scare us without fear of recrimination. We must be able to talk about what is messy or sad, and to have hard conversations.
Promote psychological safety by:
• treating others the way they would like to be treated
• embracing healthy conflict
• earning and extending your trust
• being curious
• being open to creativity
• focusing on effectiveness, not just efficiency
