“Employers need to turn the light on women and ask them, ‘Why are women more reluctant to go into this and what could we do to help you into that position?’ You’re finding out how can we ease and support this woman into a leadership position. That’s the approach we need to change. Not getting into the top saying, ‘Oh look, here we are.’ ‘We’re in a hiring panel now and oh look, we’ve just noticed they’re all white men.’ This has to start a long way back in HR and people’s careers.”
