“The advice that I would give to women is that you are (generally speaking) considerably better at your job than you seem to think you are. And there’s no reason to feel that there’s anyone in the organisation better than you. You need to understand that the way men operate is often they open their mouths without all of the answers – they push their way into an answer. The way women sometimes operate is to try and be clear that they’ve thought through all of the aspects of the answer before they get to it. It doesn’t mean the man is cleverer, smarter, more experienced than you – it just means that they open their mouth quicker than you. You need to just be a bit more confident that you’re right, that people will listen to you and that your voice will be heard.”
